Title: You Who Came from the Stars
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Stars: Kim Soo-hyun (The Thieves) & Jun Ji-hyun (My Sassy Girl).
Wikipedia writes that it is South Korean TV series about an alien who landed on Earth in the Joseon Dynasty and, 400 years later, falls in love with a top actress in the modern era.
First of all, despite enjoying & recommending Jewel in the Palace (starring Lee Young Ae) in another post, I DON'T like period dramas, of any country. Perhaps I've just watched too much of the Chinese ones to bear with other period dramas.. So if you are like me and the word Joseon Dynasty just turned you off, my advice is : keep disliking but the amount of Joseon-ness is quite bearable here.. Would've preferred it to have been even less, but like I said it's bearable.. Drifting off a little into Jewel in the Palace, I think what I loved about that show is the sight of Korean royal cuisine. Looked so good in every episode.. Watching Feast of the Gods also made my air liur meleleh every damn time!

Actually, forget the Joseon era, the title itself has a hint of alien and that's enough to turn me off.
I like fantasy, but no aliens, UFOs, alien invasion, or action.
"So, hypocrite what made you watch it? ", you ask?
My sister, sir, only the most powerful force in the house, sir. She literally begged me to watch one whole episode, and pulled and pulled me, dragged me off the sofa and into the next room to watch the drama with her.. So i relented, after many many 'no's..
And then I just watched and watched.. until one week later, it's over..
**Facepalm**
Anyways, it was worth it. Overall, modern korean dramas tend to be cheesy or corny, this one's no exception. But it's refereshing, since I took such a long break from Korean dramas. I needed to get some hormones back anyway..
Ji-hyun's come back to the small-screen is spectacular! She's so pretty too... #WomanCrush
While I did not fall in love with the alien, I did like the guy's acting..
Would've fallen in love for the good-looking brother, portrayed by Ahn Jae-hyun, but i truly believed that he was too young for me! Funny 'cause last time I checked I was born in 1989, and Jae-hyun shshi was born in 1987.Funnier still that the main actor is even younger than him.
Perhaps what I liked the most about it is that there was mystery, a murder mystery to be specific, and the unrequited love line stuff.. and something to heed about friendship.. That of Se Mi & Hwee Kyung, that of Se Mi & Song Yi, and that of Mr. Jang (Kim Chang Wan, love this man!) and the alien.
Ooh.. and i loved the casual, yet frequent, references to popular culture ====> Harry Potter, E.T. etc..
And how often is our main character this thoughtless and rash?? I wish we could see more of those.
The ending was a little open..but if i say what's on my mind or what disturbed me about it, I'd ruin it for you..
