Jumaah Mubaarakah, people!!
About a year ago, I attended a talk by Yasmin Mogahed and I fell in love (that's what I love about my uni and Malaysia, you'll get to know the who's who in the Islamic world and meet them!! Imagine that one Friday afternoon, you stand on the balcony and hear from afar the voice of Mufti Menk, awesome right! Imagine that the many guys you know play sports with Noman Ali Khan and some of the guys you know are actually future sheikhs in the making and that you're friends with the wives and/or daughters of some really influential Muslim speakers from all over the world!! I know, I know that's not my life purpose.. but yeah occasionally I do feel starstruck.. hehe).
so back to those 4 reason I looooove this lady:
1- she talks like she's talking to a friend.. serious but so calm and without hurry
2- she loves the things i love- autumn forests and full moon rises on the ocean, etc etc,
3- her words pierce me and make me reflect many, many months later and i can replay my recording of her speech and get new insights each time
4- seriously, her tweets are the best!!!
You don't have to be a muslim to appreciate/benefit from her insights and world view...
Many non-muslims love this lady :)
If you prefer reading over listening to talks, then go ahead and grab a book of hers & reclaim your heart!
